The mission of Morning Star is to point people to the grace of God that we find in Jesus.
We pursue this mission through a vision of:
  • inspirational worship
  • radical inclusion
  • alleviation of suffering
A four-part worship series called “Affirming: What We Believe and Why It Matters” will continue on Sunday, May 17, 2026, as we explore some of the foundational elements of our faith and what that means for the way that we live. The second message in the series, “Jesus,” is rooted in Luke 4:16-21.

Contemporary worship will take place in person and online (mstarlc.church and YouTube) at 9:15 AM, and traditional worship will take place in person at 11:15 AM.

All are welcome!

Thank You for All the Survey Responses!

Thank you for taking the time to submit worship series ideas through the recent survey. I look forward to spending time in prayer and discernment with your responses to design series that are led by the Spirit and confirmed by your interests and questions.

Some of your responses reminded me that many of you are newer to Morning Star and might’ve missed the series we offered on Revelation, for instance, or the one about the Beatitudes. Past series also include studies of favorite Bible characters and the often-overlooked contributions of women in the biblical narrative. Videos of those sermons and more can be accessed in our Morning Star up under Resources/All Videos. Audio versions of those sermons are available under Podcasts on the Home page.

If you are looking for a sermon on a particular verse or scripture, feel free to reach out to me at amy@mstarlc.church, and I’ll help you locate it. And stay tuned for brand new series based on your recent feedback. It’s a privilege to be able to walk this journey of discovery with you, and I appreciate your guidance along the way!

A Mother's Love

by Dr. Douglas Weeks

Here are the lyrics of the song written by Minister of Music Dr. Doug Weeks and performed by Megan McQueen and Makena Tellez during the 11:15 service on Mother's Day!

A Mother's Love
by Dr. Douglas Weeks

[Mother, Daughter, Together]
In the morning when I wake you
 In the morning when you wake me
I smile with joy at this new day,
 You smile with joy at this new day,
That you have your life there before you
 That I have my life there before me
To discover your own way:
 To discover my own way:

And God will guide you, bless you, never abandon,
 And God will guide me, bless me, never abandon,
His plan He’ll bring about that you may learn and grow;
 His plan He’ll bring about that I may learn and grow;
And I will support you, encourage you, provide for your needs,
and give you love from above.
 A mother’s love from above.

In the evening when you come home
 In the evening when I come home
You feel the kitchen’s sunny rays
 I feel the kitchen’s sunny rays
That you showed me life that’s worth living
 That I showed you life that’s worth living
And we’ll share it God’s own way:

And God will guide me, bless me, never abandon,
His plan He’ll bring about that you may learn and grow;
 His plan He’ll bring about that I may learn and grow;
And I will support you, encourage you, provide for your needs,
And give you love from above.
 A mother’s love from above.

And God will guide us, bless us, never abandon,
His plan He’ll bring about that we may learn and grow;
And God will support us, encourage us, provide for our needs,

And give us love from above,
 A mother’s love from above,
from above.

Memorial Service for Jonathan Delgado-Naegele

Beloved,

In this time of deep grief, we continue to hold the family of Jonathan Delgado-Naegele in our hearts and prayers following the tragic accident that resulted in his death on May 3, 2026.

Jonathan is the son of Kathy Naegele-Delgado and Anselmo Delgado-Martinez, and the brother of Alejandra. We surround this family with our love and support as they navigate unimaginable loss.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, from 5:00–8:00 PM at La Paz-Grahams’ Funeral Home (555 W Amador Ave.). A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 16, at 11:00 AM at Morning Star UMC (2941 Morning Star Drive) and online at mstarlc.church (direct link). A reception provided by the congregation will follow in the church’s Gathering Space. A wake will be held at Jonathan’s home in Radium Springs (11790 Robledo Vista Road) that same night at 7:00 PM.

Please continue to keep Kathy, Anselmo, Alejandra, and all who love Jonathan close in your prayers in the days ahead.

Grace and Peace,
 Pastor Amy

*Now on Saturday, May 23* Interactive Movie Night

Interactive Movie Nights at Morning Star are coming this summer! Each night will feature themed snacks, activities and games and will culminate in an interactive viewing of a special movie.

The three movies showing this summer are:
  • K-Pop Demon Hunters - Saturday, May 23, starting at 3 PM
  • Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among Thieves - Saturday, June 27, starting at 6 PM
  • The Princess Bride - Saturday, July 25, starting at 3 PM

Turn movie night into an unforgettable event with an interactive movie experience. Instead of just sitting back and watching, guests become part of the fun with themed props, cue cards, and perfectly timed reactions that bring the story to life. Cheer for heroes, gasp at dramatic twists, wave glow sticks during big musical numbers, and hold up signs with iconic quotes. It’s the perfect blend of film, party, and live-show energy—creating laughter, connection, and memories for all ages.
