Current Sermon Series
Un-Bound: Stories that Challenge and Change Us

A seven-part worship series called “Un-Bound: Stories that Challenge and Change Us” runs from June 7 to July 19, 2026, as we connect the plots of classic and popular literature with the central themes of our holy text.
The first message explores the narrative of “Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry,” by Mildred D. Taylor and is rooted in Psalm 37:1-11.
The second message explores the narrative of “Melissa” by Alex Gino and is rooted in Psalm 139:13-18.
The third message explores the narrative of “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak and is rooted in Luke 15:11-32.
The fourth message explores the narrative of “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee and is rooted in Luke 10:25-37.
The fifth message explores the narrative of “The Hate U Give” by Angie Thomas and is rooted in Philippians 3:17-21.
The sixth message explores the narrative of “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury and is rooted in 2 Timothy 4:1-5.
The final message explores the narrative of “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle and is rooted in John 1:1-5.
Contemporary worship takes place in-person and online at 9:15 AM and traditional worship takes place in person at 11:15 AM every Sunday.
You can access the summer reading list for all ages here, https://mstarlc.church/summer-reading-list, but reading ahead is not necessary to participate in worship.
All are welcome!
